About the House

Lyndarah was built circa 1900 out of local sandstone. The house has led many lives, as a home, a doctor's surgery and a men's hostel after the Great War.

The name Herb's Hus grew out of Brian's Swiss heritage and Karrinjeet's passion for cultivating and cooking with herbs.

The house has original features such as stained glass windows, intricate ceiling roses, twelve-foot ceilings and beautiful original fireplaces.

About the Hosts

Brian Schuler is a local dairy farmer who enjoys everything except lumpy porridge and lumpy custard. Karrinjeet Singh-Mahil is a secondary teacher with a passion for growing herbs.

Our fairytale:

Once upon a time in a far off land (Aotearoa) two young kids led separate lives in their dairy farming families, only five kilometres apart. They spent the next forty-odd years going about the joys of life, exploring the world contented with their single existences. That was until March 2006 when by chance they met for the first time and fell in lurve. When it's right, it's right. Within a few months they were married and are now living happily ever after in their very own castle, on a hill by the sea.
